Specialising in residential property within the South Devon area, we offer a bespoke service in pre-purchase building surveys and RICS home buyer reports. In 1997 Ed Chamberlain BSc (Hons) MRICS qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and has lived and worked in South Devon for over 21 years. He began to specialise in the residential sector in 1998 having previously worked primarily as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (or Building Cost Consultant) gaining valuable experience in both new build and alteration work.
Whilst he has designed numerous home extensions and new builds, he now focuses on condition survey work. His wide ranging experience enables him to offer informal practical design advice that may be useful as part of the decision making process for a property purchase. Much of Ed's work is generated by recommendations from local firms of solicitors who like Ed's reports for their clarity and detail.
Angela Chamberlain BSc (Hons) MRICS qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1995 and has also worked in South Devon for over 21 years.

Services
Our advice is always yes.
Often buyers associate the need for a survey with older properties.
However, we have found some potentially serious defects even on brand-new properties.
A property purchase is a big investment and ideally you want to have a thorough understanding of what you are buying.
Typically the RICS Homebuyer Service will be suitable for a modern unaltered property, whilst a more complex, extended, converted or pre Second World War property will be best served by the RICS Building Survey.

Below are some examples of past and present case studies with project information and images.
The extension was designed to be slightly larger than that required by the client as it was felt that the result would be in proportion to the rest of the house and blend in well.
Some internal re-arrangement of the accommodation was included in this project although the main additional accommodation comprised of a large living room and kitchen with master bedroom suite above including bathroom and dressing room.
