Initially established in 1977 the John Vincent Land Surveying practice (JVS) was formed into a limited company by its senior management team in 1991. The commitment to high levels of professional service is reflected in its certification to the ISO 9001 standard of Quality Assurance Management System.
JVS specialises in Land, Hydrographical, and Building surveys for a diverse variety of clients, including those in the civil engineering, architectural, construction, water, leisure and Geotechnical Engineering industries, where modern technology is used to meet the high tolerances and short timetables required. The surveying services provided by JVS extends from feasibility stage through to construction, to as-built surveys of the completed project.
Utilising high specification Trimble and Leica survey equipment both traditional and GPS surveys are undertaken quickly and accurately to the clients specification, with information being available both in digital and/or paper format as required.

Services
Topographical surveys are carried out using state of the art equipment.
Surveys are carried out using a combination of Trimble or Leica Total Stations and Leica GPS system.
Difficult or inaccessible terrain can be surveyed remotely using a contactless method, which is a capability of our modern survey equipment.
Survey control is established by Leica GPS, using dual frequency receivers.
This provides a quick and accurate 3D correlation to the O.S. grid geodetic network, providing national grid co-ordinates and O. S. datum.

Fully dimensioned building surveys can be undertaken, to produce floor plans, elevations, cross sections and street-scenes.
High levels of accuracy can be achieved, using EDM in both manual and remote measurement modes.
Precise room measurements can be obtained, using laser distance measurers, also ensuring minimal disruption to on-going room users.
A precise digital map can be built up using our laptop CAD system, which converts directly to industry standard Autocad files.

JVS is able provide accurate and fast location to the Geodetic National Grid, and to Ordnance Datum by means of Global Positioning.
This is carried out using the latest GPS Real Time Kinematic equipment, incorporating "Smartnet" technology (Leica 1200 Series).
This system provides accuracies of up to 5mm in x, y co-ordinates and 10mm in z co-ordinates.
Most topographical and hydrographical surveys can be carried out using GPS equipment, providing a fast and cost effective system.
In some situations, GPS can be mounted directly to our quad bike, to give extremely rapid spot level coverage of open areas.
