Asbestos Sampling and analysis is the ONLY way to determine for sure that a material does or does not contain asbestos.
If you have a suspect asbestos material you need identified, one of our local asbestos surveyors can arrange to visit your property to obtain the sample(s) (usually a small peice of material 3-5cm2 is enough) - the sample(s) will be safely transported to our in-house purpose built UKAS accredited (ISO 17025) Laboratory where one of our trained analysts will analyze the sample for asbestos content.
A management survey's purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in a premises which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.
If you are looking to buy or sell a property, start or end a term lease - then this will be the report the landlord, bank or estate agent may ask for you to provide.
Or if you are responsible for maintenance and repairs in a building, which may contain asbestos?
Refurbishment surveys are needed before any refurbishment work is carried out in a building / premises that was built before 2000.
This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area where the refurbishment work will take place.
The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach.
A refurbishment survey may also be required in other circumstances, e.g. when more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out or for plant removal or dismantling.
A re-inspection survey is designed for a competent person to monitor and record the condition of any previously identified Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) within the building to routinely update the asbestos management plan.
Asbestos containing materials are subject to potential damage and disruption.
If asbestos containing materials become damaged or disturbed, it is more likely to become a hazard to health, therefore it should be inspected at regular intervals to ensure its condition has not deteriorated.
